Imperial Schrade Corp. was a maker of hand- and pocketknives, existing in various forms since 1904. In 1904, the Schrade Brothers formed a knife making company in Walden, New York, the site of both the New York Knife Company and the Walden Knife Company. The Schrade Knife Company survived up until 1946, when it was bought by Albert Baer renamed to the Schrade Walden Knife Company. This new company was a division of Imperial Knife Company, and it thrived until the 1980's, when things started to fall apart financially. The Schrade Walden Knife Company lasted until 2004, when it closed its doors. Schrade knives are known for their high quality and functional design, and are very popular among pocket knife collectors.
